I think that there are alien civilizations out there. Why couldn't there? It is foolish to think we are the only planet to have the right conditions. Space is honking huge and there has to be at least a couple of other planets with life. Maybe they just are not as smart as us. Or maybe they are but they are just having the same problems finding us that we are finding them.
